Not in your lifetime? Think Again. Based on Corps of Engineers Data, as of 2009, Lewis and Clark Lake has a storage loss of almost 30 percent. It is projected to be at 50 percent loss in 2045. Lake Francis Case is projected to be at 50 percent loss in 2100 and Sharpe in 2133. The larger reservoirs will take more time to fill, however, the negative impacts are already being experienced. The Missouri Sedimentation Action Coalition works to educate the public and pushes for alleviation of the sedimentation-caused problems of the Missouri River main-stem reservoirs.
