| The Missouri Sedimentation
Action Coalition works to educate the public about sedimentation, which
severely threatens one of our great national resources - the Missouri River
reservoir system touching four states and providing benefits for generations
of Americans. Inaction will hurt the quality of life for people across more
than one dozen states. MSAC supports efforts to reduce the amount of sediment entering the system. We also can remove and manage sediment already in the reservoirs. Efforts and dollars should be focused in those areas that promote the life cycle approach, rather than reacting to sediment-caused problems in the design life approach, which ultimately abandons our reservoir system. MSAC believes the reservoir system must be treated as a National Resource providing citizens with a superb drinking and irrigation water supplies, efficient hydropower, invaluable flood control, one-of-a-kind recreation and limitless economic development possibilities. Together, we must manage the Missouri River reservoir system as a National Resource for today and the future. |
