Flooding in the spring of 2019 created massive damages across many Midwestern states along the Missouri River and its tributaries. Wet farmland is something Rick and Mary Hurd of rural Charles Mix County have seen on a more regular basis. Mary’s father started tilling the land and she wonders what will be left for future generations.

Located upstream of the Lewis and Clark Lake delta, the Hurds have been actively engaged in informing the public and elected officials about the problems of sedimentation. Listen to their story including the frustrations of trying to work with the system to find a solution.
